COFFEE SHOP DRIVE-THRU
In the coffee-shop drive-thru, the main thing to know is that the fancy froo-froo drinks and the pastries and breads are not your friend.
The second thing to pay attention to is the fact that many of these drive-thrus will have plain coffee with real half n half and stevia sweeteners, as well as healthier protein options.
Think: PLAIN COFFEE + PROTEIN + VEGGIES
This combination gives you protein, fiber, healthy carbs, and some fat to keep you full longer and your blood sugar in check.
What you CAN order:
- Water (excellent option for first thing in the am when you've been getting dehydrated all night.)
- Plain coffee (NO flavored syrups--they're loaded with sugar. Opt for REAL milk or half n half + stevia sweetener if you want it sweet {usually the green packets of sweetener}.)
- Protein (hard-boiled eggs, sous vide egg bites, omelet, frittata, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage {in burrito bowl format perhaps?}, peanut butter or almond butter).
- Oatmeal (NO sugar toppings; add fruit + nuts + stevia to sweeten)
- Fresh fruit
- Veggies (spinach, peppers, celery, carrots)
What to AVOID:
- Flavored syrups (FULL of sugar!)
- Any fancy drink (FULL of sugar!)
- Breads
- Croissants
- Muffins
- English Muffins
- Cookies
- Cakes
- Pastries
