What it is: 

The Smart Carb way of eating is basically eliminating the carbohydrates that aren't useful to your body at all and that are probably causing you harm. This includes flours that are refined and have no fiber in them, as well as added sugars. These foods generally fall under processed foods, and give little to no nutritional value.

Why you'd want to eat this way: 

Many people choose this method of eating to start losing weight. Others find that they feel much better once they've eliminated the junk and processed foods they've been eating. And still others start here and then move on to more in-depth eating styles such as strictly clean eating, Whole30, or Paleo.

What's allowed: ✔

Any WHOLE grain

Lentils, legumes, and beans

Natural zero calorie sweeteners

Vegetables and fruits (whole and preferably fresh)

All meats

Most fats (but without the added sugars, ie. dressings, nut butters, etc)

What's NOT allowed: ❌

Added sugars

Refined flours (which includes most cereals, many breads, pastries, muffins, basically anything made with white flour or wheat flour that doesn't specify 100% WHOLE WHEAT.)
