LOW CARB EATING
What it is:
Eliminating most sugars, whether added or natural, so that the overall carbohydrate count for the day is very small. The purpose of this way of eating is to burn the sugar storage your body has so it will begin to burn fat instead.
Why you'd want to eat this way:
If you're trying to lose weight
If you are pre-diabetic or diabetic and need to get your blood sugar levels or A1C under control
If you find that you have a lot of inflammation, whether from a chronic condition or just in general
What's allowed: ✔
Meats (protein)
Fats (dressings, oils, butter, nuts/nut butters)
Vegetables (non-starchy)
Low carb fruits
Artificial sweeteners (preferably natural)
What's NOT allowed: ❌
Sugar
Added sugars
Fruit juice concentrates
Fruit juice
Honey, agave, syrup
Most grains (rice, wheat, oats, barley, etc)
Starchy vegetables (like potatoes)
High carb fruits
