KETO EATING

What it is:

Keto refers to the ketogenic diet. This diet is even more restrictive than the "Low Carb" way of eating. It eliminates most carbs + encourages more protein and fats, but also vegetables.

Why you'd want to eat this way:

To help control your blood sugar levels if you are pre-diabetic or diabetic (especially if low carb isn't quite doing the trick)

You have inflammation from a chronic and/or autoimmune condition, or just feel better on less carbs

What's allowed: ✔

Meats (protein)

Fats (dressings, oils, butter, nuts/nut butters)

Vegetables (non-starchy)

Lowest carb fruits

Artificial sweeteners (preferably natural)

What's NOT allowed:

Sugar

Added sugars

Fruit juice concentrates

Fruit juice

Honey, agave, syrup

Most grains (rice, wheat, oats, barley, etc)

Starchy vegetables (like potatoes)

High carb fruits
